About Jackie

I was born and raised in the canton of Aargau in northern Switzerland, where I grew up with my three sisters. After graduating from chef school, I worked seasonal jobs for many years—spending summers by the lake and winters in the mountains.

One day, I saw an ad to work at a hotel in New Glarus and decided to give it a try. Without any English knowledge I boarded a plane in 2007. I spent 13 wonderful months in this charming small town, where I met my future husband. He followed me back to Switzerland, and after getting married, we lived there for about three years. In 2012, we moved back to New Glarus and made it our home.

Now, we live in New Glarus with our two children and our dog. Since settling here, I’ve worked in a doggy daycare with retail, then spent over eight years at a New Glarus downtown gift shop—where I discovered how much I enjoy working in retail.

I’ve known Esther since my very week in New Glarus, and I’m honored to take over her lovely business. I’m excited to carry on the tradition of offering Swiss and European imports and look forward to meeting many new faces in the shop and online. See you soon!
